Hi, hello!
Episode One of Healing Is a B*tch is officially (finally) live.
This episode is called: What Trauma Actually Is (and Why So Many of Us Didn’t Know We Had It)
And I talk about trauma in plain, human language, not the movie version, not the Pinterest checklist, and not the “other people had it worse” framework that kept so many of us blaming ourselves.
We talk about trauma as a nervous system experience, not a personal failure.
About why so many people lived with trauma for years without realizing it.
About circling, pausing, and reassessing — and why that isn’t avoidance or weakness.
About why healing doesn’t look neat, linear, or impressive from the outside.
⚠️ Content / Trigger Warnings
This episode includes discussion of:
trauma and PTSD
emotional abuse and relational harm
nervous system dysregulation
survival mode, hypervigilance, and shutdown
shame, self-blame, and feeling like a burden
There are no graphic descriptions, but the themes may still feel activating if you’re tender or already overwhelmed. Please take care of yourself, you can pause, skip, or come back later. That counts, too.
If listening brings up a quiet “oh… that’s me,” or if your body reacts before your brain catches up, you’re not doing anything wrong.
That’s often what recognition feels like.
And if this episode stirs something that feels bigger than what you want to hold alone, I do offer 1:1 hypnotherapy sessions for trauma survivors who understand what happened, but whose bodies are still carrying it.
